Common Capital Engagement Partners is an independent, mission-driven stewardship firm. We run sustained, evidence-based engagement with companies where long-term value is at risk, with a clear record of what was asked, what changed, and what did not.

Independent engagement capacity, at a time when investors need it.

Independent by design

As a structurally independent offering, we aim to fill a growing market and regulatory need for engagement that meets investors where they are. There is no ratings product, no index and no data subscription attached to the relationship, so the incentive is simply to get engagement right.

Who runs the engagements

Our engagement leads are both thematic experts and engagement specialists. They bring decades of standards-based dialogue across human rights, conflict, environment, business ethics, climate risk and corporate governance, and have sat on every side of the process, in companies, at investors, in industry bodies and at service providers. They know what matters to each party and how to move a dialogue forward.

Built around what investors commission

Investors reviewing their engagement providers want a direct say in what is engaged. The investor chooses the companies, themes and outcomes. We carry out the engagement and report the evidence.

What we do

We offer three services that work together. Norms-based engagement is the core of what we do. Conflict-focused and client-directed engagement extend it to the risks and priorities that matter most to each investor.

Norms-based engagement

Sustained dialogue with companies in breach of international standards: the UN Global Compact, the OECD Guidelines, the UN Guiding Principles and ILO conventions. New cases are flagged, assessed and admitted based on established research screens. The aim is a demonstrable and committed change in corporate behaviour.

  • Controversy-led case selection
  • Clear, time-bound asks
  • Agreed escalation steps where dialogue stalls

Client-directed engagement

Commissioned engagements on the companies, sectors or themes that matter to a portfolio and its beneficiaries. The investor sets issuers, objectives, milestones, escalation triggers and reporting fields. Delivered as a fully outsourced service or alongside an in-house programme.

  • Climate transition and financed emissions
  • Supply chain and labour rights
  • Board effectiveness and executive pay

Conflict-focused engagement

Engagement in conflict-affected and high-risk areas, where standards call for heightened human rights due diligence. Engagement seeks stronger prevention, mitigation and remedy, distinguishing incidents from foreseeable risks. Available from Q1 2027.

  • Coverage list, scope and fee agreed with each investor
  • Company operations and business relationships in scope
  • Prevention, mitigation and remedy as the measures of progress

How an engagement runs

Each engagement follows the same six steps, so progress can be compared across companies and explained to beneficiaries, boards and regulators.

  1. 1 Evidence the concern

We establish what has actually happened by cross-verifying corporate disclosure against independent sources.

  2. 2 Set the ask

Specific, standards-anchored objectives the company can act on and we can measure.

  3. 3 Engage

Direct dialogue with senior management and, where needed, the board, on behalf of the investors we represent.

  4. 4 Log progress

Dialogue-driven insights and regular methodology-driven case reviews.

  5. 5 Escalate

Where dialogue stalls, agreed further steps, from formal requests to collaborative investor action.

  6. 6 Verify and report

We confirm change against evidence rather than company announcements, and the investor receives the full case record and outcome.

A platform built around the expert

Engagement works when an experienced engagement lead builds a constructive relationship with a company. Our platform was designed by people who have done that work and built new for that purpose. It assembles research, tracks progress, flags priorities and delivers reports, so engagement leads can concentrate on impact and investors have a clear view of every case from commissioning to outcome. Consultation takes place at each stage. Investors can put questions to companies ahead of meetings and receive written summaries. All investment, voting and divestment decisions remain with the investor.
